Re: MEDICAL EXPERTS CALL FOR NGS AS NEW STANDARD OF CARE FOR MPN PATIENTS

I am very sorry but as long as hydrea is still seen as a 1st-line remedy in the treatment, I see little benefit from a better diagnosis. You can have a favorable gene profile and then develop cancer with Hydrea. I therefore think it is better to focus on better drugs with disease-modifying propertie...

Re: An antibody for myelofibrosis – “that’s a true discovery”

That would be nice after 30 years of hydrea and interferon misery. There is also a new promising drug under Bomedemstat (lsd1 inhibitor) which already shows reductions in the mutation burden after just 12 weeks.

Re: A case of JAK2V617F-positive essential thrombocythemia where allele burden was reduced by a PD-1 inhibitor

I saw there is already more evidence: https://ashpublications.org/blood/article/136/Supplement%201/24/471844/Overexpression-of-PD-L1-Correlates-with-JAK2-V617F (In the Netherlands) the immune checkpointblockade therapy is already being used for a number of cancer types.. This could make it available...

A case of JAK2V617F-positive essential thrombocythemia where allele burden was reduced by a PD-1 inhibitor

Immune checkpoint inhibitors are a relatively new treatment and is already being given in a number of Hospitals worldwide. The natural immune response against cancer cells is enhanced and manipulated with drugs. This immunotherapy is already considered as a first-line treatment for various types of ...

Re: Resveratrol Inhibits JAK2V617F

Thanks Steve! It's anything but sunny here in the Netherlands ;) I saw another interesting article about a comparison study of resveratrol with hydrea. I don't know if I understand correctly but it seems here that Resveratrol also has a stronger effect than Hydrea in suppressing ribonucleotide reduc...

Resveratrol Inhibits JAK2V617F

Hi, I wonder if MPN'ers have already had experience with Resveratrol. A comparative study in 2013 shows that Resveratrol has a more powerful effect than Ruxolitinib in combating the JAK2617f clone. However, after this research I see nothing about patiënt studies on the internet. See: https://ashpubl...

Re: CURCUMIN? – IS IT THE NEXT BEST THING...?

Hi Steve and Armin, Thanks for the info! Good to hear that it has an effect. These tests are of course always done in a sterile environment on laboratory dishes without any hindrance from the gastrointestinal tract... But the article about curcumin has caught my attention, unbelievable that a food p...

Re: CURCUMIN? – IS IT THE NEXT BEST THING...?

Hello,
Are there already any long term experiences with Curcumin? I had to stop my Pegasys due to side effects and since 1 month I started with 2x 500mg Curcumin oil (Micelles) per day. My blood values were always normal during Pegasys, I hope to continue this..
