Potential New Anti-platelet drug with reduced bleeding risks

I hope everyone is trucking along OK at the moment and making the most out of life as it is.

Monash Uni have been working on a new Anti-platelet drug with reduced bleeding risks that has looked very promising in mice and is now going to human trials. The drug changes the way the platelet membrane responds to perturbed blood flow (blocks an enzyme pathway that gears the platelet up for clot formation). But the platelets still retain their clotting ability in response to trauma or a wound so will still prevent bleeding at times where it is necessary. It all sounds really promising but with all drug development still has a ling way to go. I shall be following this one with interest. The drug may also help with Covid-19 clotting issues that are responsible for a lot of deaths around the world.

Hey Natasha...

This is great news, you of course will recall that I have already tried a few alternatives to deal w/ my extremely stubborn Platelets.

I was also due to commence a Clinical Trial being held at St Vincent's here in Sydney, however, and after receiving the 'Information Package' and Consent forms, I found myself not willing to participate if I was not going to be assured of receiving ALL test results that I have consented to subject myself to etc.

Hence, this research you have found here is somewhat exciting, and especially so at this juncture, (from my own personal lens of course).

I have had a good read through some of the information, however, the actual Paper itself is not as yet available. Still does sound promising.

I may even write to Monash and volunteer my services (body to science etc...
