Possible link between blood clots and covid

Post by Kinsale »

Hi all

I was reading The Guardian Australia online news today and saw this article re investigations into a possible link between blood clots and Covid. So I thought I’d bring it to everyone’s attention

Cheers

Evening Mark... :D

Thanks so much for Posting this because it should concern us all over a number of fronts, in my view...

Unfortunately, this article really only speaks to the possible speculation at this juncture, because the "Trial – Stimulate ICP"
"A major new consortium of over 30 researchers, health professionals, patients and industry partners from over 30 organisations, led by University College London Hospitals NHS Trust and University College London, will conduct the largest clinical study of long COVID to-date over two years. As countries around the world struggle to cope and recover from successive waves of the pandemic, this NIHR-funded research programme will inform medium and longer-term policy and health system responses.

STIMULATE-ICP (Symptoms, Trajectory, Inequalities and Management: Understanding Long-COVID to Address and Transform Existing Integrated Care Pathways) will deliver knowledge to clinicians and scientists, evidence to policymakers, and improved care to patients, while collecting real-world data at scale. The team spans a wide range of relevant clinical and academic disciplines including primary care and specialist services, epidemiology, mental health and health economics. It also includes four patient groups who helped develop the research proposals."
However, the only claims they're currently basing those theories upon is the research of some smaller trails by others; that they mention in the news article:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... microclots

Unfortunately, The Guardian has a "Pay Wall" they say is NOT a PW, & one MUST first register to continue reading their articles...

A newer article today suggest that it is mainly the female gender that suffers from "Long Covid_19":

Nevertheless, & not sure if you can still recall the series of historical events as that very first "wave" of CV–19 began to sweep its way across our nation? Remember, at those earlier stages governments, all seemed to be in the "Race To the Bottom" to create their own vaccine, (our no doubt profit along the way).

* First the University of QLD, was manufacturing a vaccine based upon using a HIV gene, (later scrubbed).
* Then Astrazeneca, seemed to hold all the early promise, until someone let the 'Genie out of the bottle' concerning – the incidence of Blood clots
* There was a certain Nikolai Petrovsky, from Flinders University, trying to convince us & our government, that the old trusted method of vaccine creation should not be discarded in favour of the 'Untried & newer' therapies that no human trials had ever been conducted upon; namely the 'Live Virus' model created via a chimpanzee flu & called, (Astrazeneca – AZ), & the new gene therapies of the mRNA variety, (i.e. Moderna & Pfzier)

All of the marketing & Big Pharma profits left to the side for the moment, the main issue here was we were apparently discarding the early 'Raw Data' that suggested there were issues w/ blood clotting, & especially so where Astrazeneca (AZ) was concerned...

After much debate, there developed a dysfunctional agreement, that 'Blood Clotting' might have been a problem, in a variety of differing scenarios...

I.e. People who had a problem or were prone to suffer from: obesity, asthma, respiratory ailments, and a host of other let's say, "Immunocomprimised" conditions...

Later, suggestions began to arise that those w/ thromboctyopenias, (lower than normal Blood Platelet levels), might be at greater risk. However, another suggestions soon arose concerning those who may have suffered from bleeding disorders, and that they should also be included. One such disorder is known as "Von Willebrands Disease - VWD". VWD is generally thought of as an inherited genetic disorder, however, there is a Type known as "Acquired VWD" that may be caused by extremely 'Higher' than usual Blood Platelet levels, (hence, one theory contradicting the other, sort of...)

Von Willebrands Disease & Von Willebrands Factor

"Von Willebrand disease is a lifelong bleeding disorder in which your blood doesn't clot properly. People with the disease have low levels of von Willebrand factor, a protein that helps blood clot, or the protein doesn't perform as it should.

Most people with the disease are born with it, having inherited it from one or both parents. However, warning signs, such as heavy bleeding after a dental procedure, might not show up for years."

"Many people with von Willebrand disease don't know it because the signs are mild or absent. The most common sign of the condition is abnormal bleeding.

There are three main types of the disease. The amount of bleeding varies from one person to another, depending on the type and severity of the disease.

If you have von Willebrand disease, you might have:

Excessive bleeding from an injury or after surgery or dental work
Frequent nosebleeds that don't stop within 10 minutes
Heavy or long menstrual bleeding
Heavy bleeding during labor and delivery
Blood in your urine or stool
Easy bruising or lumpy bruises"

In any event Mark, it is a serious consideration, & in my view, (COVID–19), is far from done with us all as yet... I am still wearing a mask everywhere I go...

Still endeavouring to keep my 86yo mother, (due for her next Hip Operation in days now, I hope?), from falling ill, even to the flu... Because, that would again stall the whole procedure for the umpteenth time etc.

So thanks again Mark for Posting because we should all be remaining vigilant to CV-19, (Long or Short), infections, and maintaining all those safety protocols that might aid in alleviating a CV-19 infection, or worse etc...

Thanks Mark for this very timely reminder... 8-)

Stay happy, safe & well... & catch up w/ you on Sunday too I hope...

Steve
